Web Browser Management

Travis Graves with Graves IT Solutions will be presenting to SDSTE members on Web Browser Management. Utilizing Group Policies in Active Directory to manage and control popular web browsers (i.e. Internet Explorer, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox) used on the Microsoft Windows platform will be discussed. A review of common policies to control and support these web browsers as well as a few unique policies of each browser will be covered.

Travis will present on April 22nd at 4PM CST. Registration for this session will open on April 19th.

Managed Print Services

Dan Pollema with RTI will be hosting a training for SDSTE members on Managed Print Services. MPS can help schools determine the true cost of printing by examining four areas of management: Materials (supplies and service), Assets (pages and printers/copiers), Users (printing and people), and Documents (creation and processes). Implementing a MPS program results in more than cost savings. It helps optimize your print fleet, improve workflow with software solutions and improve employee efficiencies.

Registration opens on April 13th. Dan will be presenting on April 19th at 10AM CST online.

Caching Benefits with a Cachebox Server

Maximizing Windows Tools

SDSTE will be sponsoring an online training on Maximizing Windows Tools on Thursday, March 10, at 2:00PM CT. Training will be by Eric Eisenbraun of Golden West Technologies, via Skype. This training is for SDSTE members.

SDSTE Technology Integration Day 2016

SDSTE would like to invide you to our annual SDSTE Technology Integration Day on Monday, March 7th from 8:30am-3:00pm at Southeast Technical Institute. Corinne Hoisington will be our 2016 presentor. Corinne Hoisington is a full-time Professor of Information Systems Technology with over 25 years of teaching experience. Corinne also travels over 200,000 miles a year speaking to college & university professors and K12 venues in over 60 cities this year for such customers as the Microsoft Corporation, Cengage Learning, the international SXSW (South by Southwest) event, and many other universities and K12 groups all over the world. Professor Hoisington is the recipient of the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional in Computer Programming. Corinne presently has authored over twenty textbooks with Cengage Learning/National Geographic such as the Android Studio Boot Camp, Dreamweaver Creative Cloud, Outlook 2016, Office 2016, Technology Now for SAM, and Visual Basic 2015 with App Development.

Managing Your Cloud Identity

SDSTE is excited to offer SDSTE Members "Managing Your Cloud Identity" by John Hohn, Golden West Technologies, 11 am CT Thursday, February 25 via Skype for Business. This session will cover the ideology behind leveraging the cloud, and include examples of how to manage and capitalize on cloud services. This session goal will be to educate SD K12 network administrators about cloud identity management so they could then in turn support their staff and students.


SDSTE provided a training opportunity with Goverlan support staff on Tuesday, February 9, from 1 to 3 CT via an online webinar. The webinar was provided for SDSTE members. To access the recording of the training, please log in to the SDSTE SharePoint site.

Skype for Business

SDSTE will be sponsoring an online training on Skype for Business on Tuesday, February 2, at 1:30 CT. Training will be by Abbie Graham of the K12 Data Center, via Skype. This training is for SDSTE members.

2015 SDSTE Fall Professional Day

The South Dakota Society for Technology in Education held it's annual Fall Professional Day on Friday, October 23rd, 2015 at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse in Madison, SD. SDSTE members are welcome to log in and view materials from the different conference sessions. The SDSTE Board would like to thank all who attended this year's Fall Professional Development Day.
