SDSTE Fall Professional Development Day – October 20, 2017

SDSTE-Sponsored Evening Sessions during the week of DDN-IT, June 5 - 8 on the campus of DSU in Madison.

Monday, June 5 - Backup & Disaster Recovery:

We’ll review industry best practices for building a disaster recovery plan for network servers and network hardware. You will also be introduced to tools made available by Microsoft to backup Windows Servers. These include the built-in Windows Server Backup and Microsoft Data Protection Manager (DPM).

Tuesday, June 6 - Networking Fundamentals:

Session will cover IP and networking basics, including binary, IP subnetting, routing, NAT, Firewalls, switch configuration, CAT cabling, fiber-optics, and network security fundamentals. This session will be useful for both new techs as well as veterans that need a refresh.

In order to simplify the registration process, registration for the SDSTE Evening Sessions will be included with DDN-IT registration. Registration opens on Monday, May 15 @ 10 AM (Central) and will close on May 16 @ 4 PM (Central). The registration form will be available on the K12 Members Site.

Wednesday, June 7 - SDSTE will be hosting a Social/Karaoke night at The Pub House in Madison!

Michael Gohring will be providing karaoke for us, and SDSTE will provide some appetizers. Make plans to join us for a fun night!!

2017-18 Scholarship Award Winners

Jeremy Ring from Kadoka (Tech Co. Chad Eisenbraun) He will be attending DSU majoring in Cyber Operations and/or Network Security with plans to work for the NSA as a certified ethical hacker or as information security for a hospital’s medical records

Cody Gregg from Sisseton (Tech co and mom is Janelle Gregg). He will be attending DSU and will also be in the Cyber Operations program. He plans to get his masters and his goal is to work in the security field in government.
